| Each of our sun face designs was carved directly into a large plaster block. Clay slabs are pressed into the molds to achieve the high relief patterns and then they are individually hand textured (Terry's favorite tool is a dissecting needle).
After the low temperature bisque firing, the tiles are stained with iron oxide to bring out the fine details. The final firing to 2300 degrees F vitrifies the stoneware clay body and makes the tiles completely weatherproof!
